Astuccio da viaggio per il cucito
Travel case for sewing

Because of work, during the week I'm far from home but I don't give up sewing passion: I bring along what I need to baste and create new ideas.
To be most confortable and, most of all, avoid losing everything in my bag, I sewed a case, rather two:

The first with the japanese fabric bought to Abilmente.

And the second one with a warm colors and a flower:

I assure you that it is pratical and easy to make! what do you think?

Zakka style
For a wile, I discovered Zakka word and I love it.
The term "Zakka", derived from japanese "zak-ka", is a fashion and design phenomenon that has spread from Japan throughout Asia and now also in Europe, most of all about Handmade. In fact the term also referes to everythings that is related to housing, to life and to the beauty.
I want to share with you some things, among my favourites, in Zakka style:

The dear and...new shopper

From 1 january 2011, the plastic bags are retired! This is a good news for the environment, in fact the plastic bag, so light, cheap, durable product, seems to be a useful and harmless if it was not a petroleum-derived. a note from the WWF points out that:" The bags are disposable items that have had over the years a heavy environmental impact: compared to a lifetime of about 20 minutes use take many centuries to be degraded and releasing toxic substances that contaminate water and bioaccumulate in the soil and enter the food webs of the planet. The alternatives are practical and convenient for both the environment and the wallet. It's just a matter of habit.''

And then we, lovers of green and do it yourself, why not help to spread these alternatives to plastic shopping bags discovering fabric bags of grandmother?

Questa è la mia idea:

This is my idea:

From an old t-shirt, I got a bag in three easy steps!

Prima di tutto tagliamo via le maniche:

First cut off the sleeves:

Poi il collo:

Then the neck:

and finally, after overthrowing the t-shirt, sew the bottom:

Ecco qua!

Here we go!

Buon lavoro!

But I expect that you share your shopper handmade. From now until February 28 you will have time to create your personal bag, which you can then post on La Soffitta delle Stoffe.

Good work!

Il quaderno delle idee

The idea's notebook

I begin the new year with many ideas in my head to be done. Fortunately I always take with me my notebook in which I paint and take a note new plans…I hope to be able to share with you all of them. A so special notebook can’t seems a ordinary notebook: I sewed it a cover with Japanese fabric that I bought at Abilmente!
