Per questo capo mi sono ispirata a una giacchina di Chanel addocchiata su una vecchia rivista: proprio per questo non riesco più a trovare l'immagine originale, ma almeno posso mostrarvi il mio lavoro!

For this cloth I was inspired by a Chanel jacket saw on an old magazine: because of this I can't find the original image, but at least I can show you my work!

Vi sarà utile sapere che una giacca del genere sta meglio a persone basse (come me, infatti) che a persone alte. Infatti allunga la figura "spostando" il punto vita più in alto. Ovviamente vale il contrario: nonostante a me piacciano molto, le giacche lunghe come i frac mi abbasserebbero notevolmente.

There will be useful to know that a jacket like this is better on short people (like me, for example) than tall people. In fact lenghtens the figure "moving" the waist higher. Obviously the opposite is true: although I like long tailcoat jackets very much they lower me.

A parte la maglia di rete che non amo molto (come dicevo qui), con un semplicissimo stratagemma modellistico, infatti è una semplice piega in due opposte direzioni, ha creato una splendida gonna.

Finalmente un pò di tempo da dedicare al mio blog (ed a sbirciare quelli altrui). Ultimamente sono molto occupata tra lezioni e lavoro, ma sono anche soddisfatta di ciò che sto facendo. 
Proprio a proposito di questo, voglio farvi vedere il mio primo tubino: ho utilizzato un cartamodello classico rivisitandolo con delle tasche sul davanti e con un disegno geometrico bianco.

Finally a bit of time to devote to my blog (and peek the others). Lately I'm very busy between study and work, but I'm also satisfied about what I'm doing. Just about this, I want to show you my first sheath dress: I used a classic pattern adding pockets on the front and a white geometric design.

Sorprese alle 22.30 di un venerdì sera

Capita talvolta di tornare a casa alle 22.30 di un venerdì sera e trovare la propria madre attorniata da gigantesche montagne di abiti vecchi: so di essere incappata nella pulizia degli armadi che prende vita ogni due o tre anni e che spesso non serve molto a sistemare la miriade di capi (che risalgono anche agli anni ’80), ma piuttosto ad accompagnarci indietro con la mente e, inevitabilmente, a  non buttare nulla o quasi di quello che si pensava.

Dopo essermi chiesta più volte come fosse possibile trovare comode ed eleganti le enormi spalline che andavano di moda quand’ero bambina, mi ritrovo in mano una cartella di cartoncino piena di polvere e indovinate che cosa contiene?

Tutto il necessario per un corso di sartoria per principianti del 1979!

Tutto comincia da una macchina da cucire.

Bugia.

Tutto è cominciato prima, ma avere il desiderio di cucire qualcosa senza una macchina da cucire non porta a nulla di concreto (se non forse a una passeggera e deludente avventura con il ricamo). Nemmeno essere circondati da persone che pensano che sia una perdita di tempo e una distrazione non porta a nulla di concreto. Poi però si cresce e si pensa che sia impossibile accontentare tutti senza accontentare se stessi. È arrivata la macchina da cucire ed ecco qual è stato l’impatto che il cucito ha avuto sulla mia vita:

• Ha liberato il mio lato creativo: quello che ha sempre scalpitato, ma che è sempre stato messo da parte per fare cose…più serie(?) Quindi mi ha dato un senso di scoperta e di sperimentazione;
• Ha migliorato la mia autostima;
• Mi ha fatto apprezzare l'estetica delle cose di tutti i giorni, le pieghe del vestito di chi è seduto vicino a me in treno, la bellezza dei colori e delle linee.
• Mi ha spinto a rivalutare le cose importanti per me, non per chi ha già scritto una lista delle esperienze e delle professioni che devo fare.

Ora tutto potrebbe diventare più grande e ancora più impattante. Il cucito mi ha portato a prendere un treno per una grande città. Il cucito mi ha spinto a sostenere un test d’ammissione per una scuole di Fashion Design, nel settore di modellismo e confezione. Il cucito mi ha portato ad attendere una risposta con ansia ( quella positiva, però).

Mentre rimango sospesa, mi piacerebbe sapere che impatto ha avuto su di voi il vostro hobby creativo!

Everything starts with a sewing machine.
Lie.
It all started before, but have the desire to sew something without a sewing machine does not lead to anything concrete (except perhaps a fleeting and disappointing adventure with embroidery).
Even being surrounded by people who think it a waste of time and a distraction does not lead to anything concrete.
But then I grow up and I think that it is impossible to please everyone, satisfying myself. I got the sewing machine and here is what was the impact that sewing has had on my life:

• It has freed my creative side: what it has always be here, but that has always been put aside to make things more serious ... (?) Then gave me a sense of discovery and experimentation;
• It has improved my self-esteem;
• It made me appreciate the beauty of everyday things, the folds of the dress of the person sitting next to me on the train, the beauty of colors and lines.
• It pushed me to reevaluate the important things for me, not for those who have already written a list of professions and experiences that I have to do.

Now everything can become bigger and more impactful. Sewing led me to take a train to a big city. Sewing prompted me to take an entrance exam for schools of fashion design, modeling and packaging industry. Sewing led me to eagerly (a positive one) await a response.

While I remain suspended, I'd like to know what impact it had on you, your creative hobby!

Una fodera per la macchina da cucire

Stufa della polvere che si insinuava negli ingranaggi della mia macchina da cucire, ho realizzato una fodera:

Farla è molto semplice e veloce. Innanzitutto prendete le misure della vostra macchina da cucire, ricordandovi di aggiungere almeno un centimetro per lato. Quindi ritagliate i rettangoli di stoffa, lasciando almeno 1 cm per le cuciture:

It is very simple and fast. First, take the measurements of your sewing machine, remembering to add at least an inch on each side.
Then cut out the rectangles of fabric, leaving at least 1 cm for seams:

In totale dovrete avere 5 pezzi di stoffa!

In total you’ll have 5 pieces of fabric!

Per creare l’aperture per il manico si procede sempre prendendo le misure della larghezza del manico e si aggiunge ½ cm per lato. Fate attenzione a controllarla distanza del manico dai lati della macchina di cucire: spesso non è centrale! I lati del buco per il manico andranno cuciti sul rovescio.

To create the openings for the handle is always proceeds by taking measurements of the width of the neck and add ½ inches square. Be careful to check the handle away from the sides of the sewing machine: it isn’t often central!

Ricordatevi di fare l’orlo!

Si può ora cominciare ad assemblare i vari pezzi: le cuciture vanno sul rovescio della stoffa!

You can now begin to assemble the various pieces: the seams are on the backside of the cloth!

Ci siamo, il corso di cucito è finito e vi presento il mio ultimo lavoro!

La camicia con colletto alla coreana e con volant è stato un lungo lavoro, ma il risultato mi piace: in base all'abbinamento può essere elegante e casual.

Ok, the sewing course is over and I present my latest work!
The shirt with collar and ruffles was a long job, but I like the result: according to the combination can be elegant and casual.

Pur essendo cotone, la fantasia del tessuto mi ha dato qualche problema: sistemando i dettagli mi si incrociavano gli occhi!

Although cotton, the fabric pattern has given me some problems: arranging the details crossing my eyes!

Nonostante il corso di cucito riprenderà a fine settembre, non ho intenzione di non provare a fare qualcosa di nuovo, anche col rischio di sbagliare e ricominciare tutto daccapo.

Quali sono i vostri progetti per l'estate?

Scallop!

Qualche giorno fa, un post di ::pannuet:: mi ha chiarito le idee su come modificare una vecchia gonna lunga che non volevo buttare. Un orlo tipo festone è l’idea giusta per questa stagione estiva!

Avete notato quanto si è diffusa questa moda? Basta dare un occhiata a Banana meet-cute, a Paper Sparrow, a Tilly and the Buttons e capire quanto sia facile realizzarlo con il tutorial di Megan Nielsen!

Personalmente penso che dei pantaloncini corti con un orlo di questo tipo siano il massimo! Spero di riuscire a farne un paio prima o poi.

Personally I think a scallop shorts are the best! I hope to make a pair some other time.

Non avere né un fotografo né un cavalletto a disposizione rende le foto della mia gonna poco apprezzabili, ma non volevo più aspettare per mostrarvela!

Have neither a photogrepher nor a tripod makes pictures of my skirt not very appreciable but I didn’t want wait to show it!

Questo modello di gonna semplice dà l’opportunità di fare abbinamenti sia sotto che sopra (e dei colori della gonna stessa): camicia infilata sotto o golfino,calze monocromatiche o una fantasia traforata…che ne pensate? A me piace l’idea di una camicia voluminosa e una giacca aperta sul davanti.

This simple model skirt gives the opportunity to make matching both above and below (and the color of the skirt): a shirt wear under it or sweater, a monochrome socks or a perforated pattern... what do you think? I like the idea of a bulky shirt and a jacket open in front.

Ho provato un’enorme soddisfazione quando l’ ho indossata, tanto che sviluppare un abito partendo da zero sta diventando una droga: sono già al lavoro col prossimo progetto! Per me i vostri pareri e consigli sono molto importanti: che ne pensate del mio primo lavoro di sartoria?
